Kathmandu: A total of 7,231 disaster-related incidents have been reported across the country since Baisakh 1. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, these incidents have affected 13,098 families.
During this period, 479 people have lost their lives, while 1,800 individuals have been injured. The authority reported 3,480 fire incidents, 321 floods, 604 landslides, 442 cases of heavy rainfall, 406 lightning incidents, and 600 snakebite cases.
Additionally, there were 279 forest fire incidents, 451 windstorms, 504 animal attacks, 123 cases of altitude sickness, and 5 avalanches.
There were also 7 earthquake incidents, as well as two cases each of hailstorms and boat capsizing. Other incidents include one case each of hailstorm combined with wind and a cold wave.
Between the morning of Chaitra 10 and Chaitra 11 alone, 26 disaster incidents were recorded. Fires occurred in 13 locations across nine districts, leaving 10 people injured.
