Kathmandu: Former Prime Minister and Chairman of CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli, and Nepali Congress leader and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, who were arrested for investigation in connection with the incidents of Bhadra 23 and 24, are set to be presented before the court today.
Both leaders were arrested from their residences early Saturday morning. As the police need to obtain permission from the court to extend their remand, they are being produced before the court. For further investigation under custody, they must be presented at the Kathmandu District Court through the Office of the District Government Attorney, Kathmandu.
Following his arrest, Oli has been admitted to a hospital, while Lekhak is currently being held at the Police Battalion No. 2 in Maharajgunj. Since Saturday, the CPN-UML has launched nationwide protests against the arrest of its chairman and continues to stage demonstrations and opposition today as well.
