Kathmandu: The Nepali Congress has asked former acting president Purna Bahadur Khadka to furnish a written clarification within seven days over allegations of issuing an unauthorized statement using a fake party letterhead. A meeting of the party’s Central Disciplinary Committee, held Thursday at its central office in BP Nagar, Lalitpur, took the decision under the coordination of Taraman Gurung.
In a statement, committee secretary Dinesh Thapa Magar said Khadka had been accused of releasing a press statement using a counterfeit letterhead while also citing a position he no longer holds. The committee had earlier warned him on March 31 not to repeat such actions. Despite the warning, Khadka allegedly issued another statement on April 12 using a fake letterhead, prompting the committee to seek clarification in line with the party’s constitution.
The committee has also extended the deadline for lodging complaints against members accused of breaching party discipline during the 2025 House of Representatives elections. The new deadline has been set for the end of Baisakh 2083, with officials stating that complaints filed after this date will not be considered.
