Kathmandu: The Meteorological Forecasting Division has reported that hot winds will persist across the western Terai and inner Madhesh until Saturday, further intensifying the heat. The Division has urged the public to take necessary precautions, as there is a strong likelihood of heatwave conditions from Sudurpashchim to Gandaki Province over today, tomorrow, and the following day.
Since Tuesday, hot winds sweeping across the Terai regions—including Madhesh Province—have made daily life increasingly difficult. With intense sunshine from early morning, both urban markets and rural areas have appeared unusually deserted.
Daily wage laborers have been particularly affected, with many unable to find work due to the extreme conditions. However, some relief is expected in the eastern regions starting tomorrow, where heatwave conditions are likely to subside. According to the Division, temperatures may decrease slightly from the eastern region up to the Terai areas of Bagmati Province by Saturday.
In contrast, the Terai, valleys, and inner lowlands of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim Provinces are expected to continue experiencing hot conditions through Saturday. There also remains a possibility of heatwave conditions in the Terai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim Provinces.
Although light rainfall has occurred in some areas during the evenings, temperatures have generally continued to rise across most parts of the country. The Division has also indicated that there is a possibility of moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning, as well as snowfall, at one or two locations in the mountainous regions of Koshi, Gandaki, and
