Kathmandu – Bagmati Province is observing the Third Provincial Language Day today through various programs and events.
The Bagmati Provincial Government began celebrating Provincial Language Day on Baisakh 24, 2081 BS, in accordance with the Provincial Official Language Act, 2080. The Act was published in the Provincial Gazette on Kartik 23, 2080 BS.
As per Sub-section (3) of Section (1) of the Act, the law was scheduled to come into implementation 180 days after its publication in the Provincial Gazette. Accordingly, the Act came into effect on Baisakh 24, 2081 BS, marking the celebration of the first Provincial Language Day that year. The Bagmati Provincial Government has also declared a public holiday across the province on the occasion.
