Nepal set a revised target of 221 runs after rain reduces overs

Kathmandu — The match between Nepal and Scotland under the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 on Tuesday was shortened after rain interrupted play. Scotland’s original target of 244 runs for Nepal was revised to 221 runs, and the match has now been reduced to 39 overs.

After winning the toss at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Scotland elected to bat first and completed their full quota of 50 overs, scoring 243 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Rain during the innings break led to a reduction in overs and the revised target.

For Scotland, opener George Munsey scored a half-century. Facing 62 balls, he made 75 runs with the help of 12 fours and two sixes. Fellow opener Finlay McCreath contributed 35 runs off 62 balls. Batting at number five, Mitchell Inglis remained unbeaten on 34 runs.

Nepal remained wicketless for the first 20 overs before leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane claimed four wickets. He bowled 10 overs, including one maiden, conceding 41 runs. Karan KC took two wickets while giving away 51 runs in eight overs, and Nandan Yadav also claimed two wickets, conceding 33 runs in his eight-over spell.
