Kathmandu: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that the country is currently under the influence of a western low-pressure system, local winds, and a low-pressure area in the lower atmosphere.
According to the department, the weather is generally cloudy in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as in the country’s hilly and mountainous regions, while the remaining areas are partly cloudy.
Moderate rainfall is currently occurring in some areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces, as well as in parts of Lumbini and Gandaki provinces.
For today afternoon, the department has forecast generally cloudy conditions in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, including the hilly and mountainous regions of the country, while the remaining areas are expected to remain partly cloudy.
There is a possibility of moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in some places of Koshi Province, the hilly and mountainous areas of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, one or two places in the remaining hilly and mountainous regions, and a few places in the Terai areas of Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces. There is also a possibility of snowfall in the high mountainous regions.
Similarly, tonight, generally cloudy conditions are likely to persist in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, including the mountainous regions, while the remaining areas are expected to remain partly cloudy.
The department has further stated that moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning may occur in some places of Koshi and Madhesh provinces, the hilly and mountainous areas of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and one or two places in the mountainous areas of Karnali Province, along with chances of snowfall in higher elevations.
