Foreign Minister Khanal to visit India following Chair Lamichhane’s return

Kathmandu: Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal is set to visit India shortly after Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSPA) Chair Ravi Lamichhane returns from his visit there.

It has been reported that the visit will focus on discussions concerning matters of mutual interest and priority between Nepal and India. The information was disclosed by RSPA lawmaker Deepak Bohora, who was part of the delegation that attended a meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party chair Lamichhane in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Speaking to BBC Nepali Service on Wednesday evening, Bohora said that Foreign Minister Khanal’s visit had already been scheduled. He stated that during the visit, Nepal’s key concerns, national priorities, and pending areas of cooperation with India would be reviewed comprehensively.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that a checklist should be prepared covering Nepal’s concerns, priority issues, and areas of cooperation with India that remain incomplete, and that work should proceed accordingly. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has expressed a similar commitment,” Bohora said.

However, he did not disclose the exact date of Foreign Minister Khanal’s proposed visit to India.
