Chitwan: A mother and her son have died after a wild elephant attacked their home in Belhatta, Ward No. 23 of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Chitwan.
The victims have been identified as 21-year-old Ashika Bote and her four-year-old son, Bharat Bote. According to Ward No. 23 Chairperson Deepak Dawadi, the wild elephant had strayed from Chitwan National Park on Saturday night and attacked their house, killing both victims at the scene.
Following the incident, representatives of the local government, security agencies, and the Chitwan National Park administration held discussions and reached several agreements. These include taking immediate measures to bring the wild elephant under control, providing prompt compensation and relief to the bereaved family through the Chitwan National Park Office, constructing a new house for the affected family, and implementing urgent measures to reduce human–wildlife conflict in the area.
