Newyork, March 31: Donald Trump will be the first ex-US president to face criminal charges as part of an investigation into hush money paid before he was elected in 2016 . Former porn star Stormy Daniels claims she had an adulterous affair with the former president, and was paid to keep quiet.
Trump has strongly denied this and has labelled the indictment a “political persecution”. He is in Florida but is expected to appear in court to face the charges and enter a plea in New York next Tuesday.
It is not yet clear what offences Trump faces but US media say he’s facing more than two dozen charges linked to business fraud. Republicans are calling the indictment an “outrage”, while Democrats say no-one is above the law. BBC
