Guwahati, April 5: Punjab Kings registered back-to-back wins in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season after they beat 2022 runners-up Rajasthan Royals by five runs in a thrilling contest.
Punjab Kings won their second consecutive victory. Punjab defeated Rajasthan Royals by 5 runs in last night’s match in Guwahati on Wednesday night. Chasing the target of 198 runs given by Punjab, Rajasthan managed to score only 192 runs by losing 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. His captain Sanju Samson scored 42 runs and Simron Hetmyer scored 36 runs. Punjab’s Nathan Ellis took 4 wickets and Arshdeep Singh 2 wickets.
Before that, Punjab, who lost the toss and batted first, scored 197 runs after losing 4 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. Punjab captain Shikhar Dhawan remained unbeaten with the highest score of 86 runs. Similarly, Prabhasimran Singh was dismissed for 60 runs. This is Singh’s first fifty in IPL cricket. Rajasthan’s Jason Holder took 2 wickets.
