Kathmandu: Afforestation has been carried out in the Pashupati area on the occasion of the 37th anniversary of the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) today. Thirty-seven varieties of plants have been planted in the Pashupati area in this connection. A special worship has also been solemnized at Pashupatinath, Guhyeshwari and Basukinath temple premises on the occasion.
Prayers and worships have been offered at all the three temples with a resolution of national welfare, PADT Spokesperson Rewati Raman Adhikari said. PADT member-secretary Dr Milan Kumar Thapa, treasurer Narayan Prasad Subedi, member of the Trust Steering Council, executive director Dr Ghanashyam Khatiwada, among the PADT officials were present in the programme.
PADT has the policy of planting tree saplings having religious value in the empty space in Pashupati area. From today, it launched the ‘one employee-one plant’ campaign, according to which an employee of PADT would have to plant a tree sapling and take care of it.
The Trust has also been conducting a cleaning programme around the Pashupati area as part of its goal of developing it into a major destination for the followers of the Vedic Sanatana Religion from all over the world.
