Kathmandu, May 24: A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court against Rastriya Swatantra Party(RSP) chair Rabi Lamichhane asking the court for his removal from his post as a lawmaker of the House of Representatives.
The writ filed by Yuvraj Paudel Safal claiming that Lamichhane is unfit to be a member of HoR because he was elected with a copy of his non-maintained citizenship without explaining that he renounced his American citizenship was registered on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, a single bench of Judge Til Prasad Shrestha overruled the decision of his own administration to accept the writ petition which was successful earlier and ordered to proceed with the process of registering the writ against Ravi. After that order, a writ was registered on Wednesday. The hearing on the writ has been fixed on 17th Jeth.
Lamichhane, who was elected as a member of the House of Representatives by taking a copy of the non-maintained citizenship from the district administration office Kathmandu without explaining the reason for relinquishing the US citizenship, has been asked to withdraw the claim in a writ petition.
