America is going to implement the rule that passengers coming from China must be tested for Covid. The rule will come into effect from January 5. The US has announced the new rules as China has announced that it will reopen its borders even though the coronavirus infection is increasing significantly.
China’s neighboring countries India, Japan and Taiwan and Italy have also made the covid test mandatory. But Australia and the UK have said there is no such rule for travelers from China. China remained closed to the outside world for three years after the start of the Covid epidemic. China is going to allow people to travel more easily from the second week of the new year.
A spokesman for China’s foreign ministry has said that Western countries and the media have “exaggerated” China’s handling of the Covid-19 policy. He claims that the situation of Covid in China is as predicted and is in a controllable state. Currently, the number of Covid patients has increased in China, due to which some countries are reconsidering their regulations regarding Covid.
However, Beijing has said that regulations to control the coronavirus should be introduced on a “scientific” basis. Government figures show 5,000 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 every day this week. But analysts say the number of infected people is much higher and the number of active infected could be around 1 million. – BBC
