29 complaints filed in parliamentary hearing committee against CJ Karki

Kathmandu,June 11: 29 complaints have been filed in the parliamentary hearing committee against Hari Krishna Karki, the Chief Justice’s recommendation for the Supreme Court. According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, the lawmakers will discuss the complaints against Justice Karki on Monday.

The complainants include One sitting judge, seven advocates, three rights activists, and others. Advocates Amrit Kharel, Yadav Koirala, and Dhruva Bahadur Shrestha along with district judge Shree Krishna Bhattarai have filed a complaint. Similarly, social activists, including Ratan Bhandari, have also filed a complaint claiming that Karki is not qualified for the post of Chief Justice.

According to the secretariat, one of the complaints is related to the alleged financial misappropriation.The committee had given 10 days time to call the complaint on May 30. Five of the complaints came through email and other complaints came in writing to the office.

According to Ekram Giri, the spokesperson of the Federal Parliament Secretariat, the complaint will be given to the MPs for study in the meeting on Monday, and the complainant will be discussed in the next meeting. After discussing with the complainant, the committee will call Justice Karki for the parliamentary hearing.
