Former cricket captain Gyanendra Malla  announces his retirement from international cricket

Kathmandu, August 04: Nepal’s veteran cricketer and former captain Gyanendra Malla has announced his retirement from international cricket. Malla called a press meeting on Friday to announce his decision. Malla, who will turn 33 in September, is one of the longest-serving player of Nepal Cricket. Malla was in a poor run lately and was missing out on the playing XI.

The right-handed batter has represented Nepal at U15 level and was part of the 2006 and 2008 U19 Cricket World Cup.Malla is renowned as Nepal’s reliable batsman and is known for building innings even under pressure. He’s been a valuable player in the national team and has played a big role in achieving numerous significant milestones for Nepal.

He was an important player when Nepal played T20 World Cup 2014 in Bangladesh. Moreover, Malla was one of eleven players to play in Nepal’s maiden ODI match against the Netherlands in 2018, in which He became the first batter to score a half-century.
