The Election Commission has called for the registration of political parties for the National Assembly member by-election to be held on January 25.
By-elections are being held for vacant National Assembly members from other groups from Lumbini region. Khimlal Bhattarai, a member of the National Assembly, resigned to contest the House of Representatives elections. The Commission issued a notice today and called for party registration according to Article 271 of the Constitution.
The parties that are still registered with the Election Commission can apply to the Commission for by-elections from tomorrow to the 28th. According to the Election Commission, the office of the commission will be open even on public holidays for the purpose of party registration.
