The time given by the provincial head for the formation of the government in Province 1 is ending at 5 pm on Sunday (today) .
On January 17th, Provincial Chief Parshuram Khapung called upon the support of two or more parties represented in the Provincial Assembly to submit their claim to the Chief Minister within seven days, according to Article 168, Sub-section 2 of the Constitution.
Due to the lack of agreement between the coalition parties, confusion has increased as to how the provincial government will be formed. The ruling coalition is preparing to submit its claim by this evening. Both CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Center) have been claiming the post of Chief Minister of Province 1.
In the 93-member Province 1, there are 40 from CPN (UML), 29 from Nepali Congress, 13 from CPN (Maoist Centre), 6 from RPP, 4 from CPN (Unified Socialist) and one from JSP. 47 provincial assembly members are required to form the government.
