Oil Corporation hikes Price of LPG, Petroleum Products

Kathmandu – Nepal Oil Corporation has once again increased the prices of most petroleum products, including liquefied petroleum (LP) gas used for cooking. The corporation cited fluctuations in international market prices as the reason for the increase.

Petrol prices have risen by NPR 17 per liter, while diesel and kerosene have increased by NPR 25 per liter each. The price of LP gas has been increased by NPR 100 per cylinder. Additionally, the price of domestic aviation fuel has been raised by NPR 6 per liter.

According to the new price list, petrol in Kathmandu Valley and other third-category areas now costs NPR 219 per liter. Diesel and kerosene are priced at NPR 207 per liter, while LP gas costs NPR 2,010 per cylinder.

In first-category areas, petrol is priced at NPR 216.50 per liter, and diesel and kerosene at NPR 204.50 per liter. In second-category areas, petrol costs NPR 218 per liter, while diesel and kerosene are priced at NPR 206 per liter. Domestic aviation fuel is now set at NPR 257 per liter.

Despite a 50 percent reduction in customs duties and infrastructure development tax, the corporation stated that it was compelled to raise prices due to continuing financial losses. It also warned that prolonged losses could affect fuel supply and urged consumers to use petroleum products sparingly.
