Kathmandu, Aug 16: The telephone service through high speed internet (fibre to the home- FTTH) and NT fibre with internet have been launched at Simkot of Humla district on Friday. Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, virtually launched the service at a programme organized in the ministry.
With this, all 77 districts got internet service via FTTH. Earlier, only Humla among remote and backward districts of Karnali Province was left to have access to FTTH. On the occasion, Minister Gurung hoped the launch of FTTH helped government’s objective to digitalize the country. “Ministry’s aim of ensuring high speed internet in Humla has been achieved,” he shared happiness, adding that ministry had begun works to establish reliable communications across the country.
The communications used to get disrupted all of a sudden for lack of sustainable infrastructures, Minister Gurung reminded. Ministry Secretary Radhika Aryal seconded the Minister that the high speed internet reaching the remote district is a positive signal on digital development.
Managing Director at Nepal Telecom, Sangita Pahadi Aryal, informed that it was a milestone of the government to reach high speed internet in Humla, a remote geography.
