A two-day workshop organized by National Association of Rural Municipalities of Nepal held in Panauti of Kavre concluded on Saturday by issuing the Panauti Declaration. The workshop discussed the learning of implementation of federalism, issues of local government and Association’s upcoming plan of action.
During the workshop, chairpersons, vice-chairpersons and ward chairs of 55 rural municipalities from all seven provinces discussed a wide range of issues with the experts to ensure better performance. Experts Krishna Prasad Sapkota, Krishna Hari Baskota, Bishnu Dutta Gautam and Hem Raj Lamichhane facilitated the sessions for the participants, chairpersons, vice-chairpersons and ward chairs of the rural municipalities.
On the occasion, the experts said that coordination and cooperation was needed in all three layers of government to ensure effective service delivery. The declaration has stated to end the policy level confusions on intergovernmental relations and mutual coordination. The recommendations also include merger of likeminded institutions existing in the district to further strengthen the federalism.
