Kathmandu, Nov 23: A discussion program on export promotion was held at the Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi last Thursday following the current government’s policy of giving special emphasis to import substitution and export promotion.
On the occasion, Ambassador of Nepal to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Tej Bahadur Chhetri, said that the embassy is working to enhance trade relations between Nepal and the UAE by promoting the country’s export trade. He also expressed the commitment to contributing to the campaign of building a prosperous Nepal through economic diplomacy.
The gathering of a delegation of Nepali businesspersons and non-resident Nepalese association, UAE, Nepal Business Council UAE and businesspersons based in the UAE held in-depth discussion on reducing Nepal’s trade deficit between Nepal and the UAE and facilitating the establishment of Nepali products in the UAE market, the embassy said.
The participants suggested about the legal and policy measures to be adopted between the two countries to address the existing challenges and bring Nepali products to the UAE.
Meanwhile, Nepal took part in the Middle East Organic and Natural Product Expo held in Dubai from 17 to 20 November. This was the first time that Nepal participated in the Expo being held since the past 22 years.
A total of 12 stalls displaying the organic and natural products of Nepal were put up at the Expo with the participation of representatives from Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Nepal Export Traders Association.
