A programme titled ‘Empowered Women, Prosperous Nepal’ has been launched at the joint collaboration of the government of Nepal, United Nations and the European Union.
The four-year programme was launched amidst a special function organised at Patan of Lalitpur today. Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens, Bhagawati Chaudhary, Director of European Union’s International Partnerships, Peteris Ustubs, and UNICEF Representatives for Nepal, Elke Wisch, jointly launched the programme.
The programme with a funding of 19.5 million US Dollars would be implemented with the partnership of federal, provincial and local governments. The programmes aims to forward gender equality, empower women and fulfill the national aspiration of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’. The programme would be implemented in Karnali, Madhes and Sudurpaschim Provinces.
On the occasion, Minister Chaudhary expressed commitment that the government was ready to implement the programme, saying sustainable development is not possible without women empowerment.
