The Nagma-Gamgadhi route along the Karnali Highway will be upgraded. The 93-kilomter route serves as an approach road to the Nepal’s major touristic destination Rara Lake.It has been decided to complete the blacktopping of 6.5 kilometers section from Kanaka Sundari to Rokayabada along the 93-km road within the current fiscal.
According to the Road Division Office, Jumla information officer Chitra Chaulagain, work to construct culverts, cemented structures and wall from Hatsinja Guthijyula to Malikabota has finished.
In the first-phase, the 6.5 kilometers road will be blacktopped and construction will begin from mid-February. Thodung Wachan JV Company has been awarded the contract to undertake the upgrading work and the deadline to complete the project is untill mid-July. The project is estimated to cost Rs 400 million.
Office Chief Rajiv Shrestha, they gear up for managing the budget for blacktopping the entire road. It is said potential tourist arrivals to the Rara Lake have remained unmet due to the existing poor condition of roadway.The blacktopping of the Nagma-Gamgadhi gravel road is expected to encourage tourist arrival to the Rara Lake.
