Kathmandu – The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has introduced a plan to effectively advance technology-friendly services in line with the development of technology.
As part of its long-term strategy to make the institution technology-friendly, simple, efficient, and future-oriented, the NEA is preparing to launch the ‘NEA AE Sathi’ system (App).
The authority has announced that the ‘NEA AE Sathi’ system (App) will be introduced not only as an artificial intelligence (AI) technology but also as an institutional companion, with the concept of adopting AI as a supportive partner.
In order to implement this idea, the NEA has organized the ‘Hackathon Event-2082.’ The Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, Hiten Dev Shakya, stated, “We are advancing this program with the thought that AI should not be a complex and distant technology, but a companion to be called upon and sought for help when needed.” He also mentioned that the name ‘AE Sathi’ itself is an attractive and user-friendly concept.
“We aim to present technology not as complex but as friendly, easy to use, and approachable. As a ‘supportive companion’ to the institution, ‘AE Sathi’ will assist consumers in accessing necessary services,” he added.
The authority believes that gradually, users will adopt the habit of calling upon ‘AE Sathi’ to obtain various information and assistance needed by the customers. It is a long-term vision to establish AI not just as a technology but as a collaborative companion, and this concept has been included within that framework.
The NEA also informed that the ‘Hackathon’ was initiated with the goal of integrating AI into the institution. During the event, 27 proposals were presented by the authority’s internal staff. These proposals focused on areas such as customer service improvement, streamlining administrative workflows, data analysis, and policy and legal facilitation.
After the presentation of the proposals through the ‘Hackathon,’ a detailed evaluation will be conducted, and the best and most practical concepts will be selected for implementation.
The authority has emphasized that the concept of ‘AE Sathi’ has been developed as part of a long-term strategy and is considered an important step in institutional innovation, digital transformation, and service improvement.
