Kathmandu: The vote counting under the proportional representation (PR) system of the House of Representatives election held on Falgun 21 has been completed.
According to Kul Bahadur GC, Assistant Spokesperson of the Election Commission, the counting of all PR votes concluded after the vote tally in Gorkha-1 and Ilam-1 was finalized. He informed that although the counting has been completed, the process of receiving official forms and detailed results from the respective offices of the returning officers is still ongoing at the Election Commission.
With the completion of the PR vote counting, the Election Commission has also begun preparations to determine the number of seats each political party will receive under the proportional representation system. The commission stated that this process is expected to be finalized within the next few days.
Meanwhile, according to the Election Commission, 10,739,115 votes had been counted under the proportional representation category as of 11:00 am on Wednesday. Among the counted votes, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has secured the highest number with 5,139,235 votes.
The Nepali Congress has received 1,749,583 votes, while the CPN-UML has secured 1,448,854 votes. The Nepal Communist Party has obtained 805,773 votes, the Shram Sanskriti Party 378,649 votes, and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party 329,472 votes. Other political parties do not appear to be in a position to cross the required threshold.
