Remittance inflows reach Rs 1.261 trillion in seven months

Kathmandu: Remittance inflows increased by 39.8 percent to reach Rs 1.261 trillion during the first seven months of the current fiscal year 2025/26 (FY 2082/83).

According to the Current Macroeconomic and Financial Situation Report based on data up to mid-February (Magh) of the current fiscal year, released today by the central bank, remittance inflows have shown a significant rise.

During the same period last fiscal year, remittance inflows had increased by 7 percent. The report states that Rs 198.08 billion in remittances entered the country in Magh alone.

In the same month of the previous year, remittance inflows had stood at Rs 137.50 billion. By the end of Magh this fiscal year, remittance inflows in US dollar terms increased by 33 percent to reach USD 8.86 billion.

During this period, net secondary income (net transfers) reached Rs 1.384 trillion, compared to Rs 986.34 billion during the same period last year.

Similarly, the Nepal Rastra Bank reported that 245,153 Nepalis obtained final labour approval (institutional and individual – new) for foreign employment during this period, while 227,424 individuals received re-entry labour approval.
