Jhapa – A total of 6,791 third-country tourists have entered Nepal through the eastern border point of Kakarbhitta over the past eight months.
According to Tulsi Bhattarai, Chief of the Immigration Office at Kakarbhitta, tourists from countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Bhutan entered Nepal through the eastern checkpoint between Shrawan and Falgun of the current fiscal year 2082/83.
Bhattarai informed that 284 tourists arrived in Shrawan, 219 in Bhadra, 541 in Ashoj, 624 in Kartik, 873 in Mangsir, 1,850 in Poush, 1,395 in Magh, and 1,005 in Falgun.
During the same period, 3,133 Nepali nationals, who had been abroad for purposes such as study and employment, returned to Nepal through the same border point.
Similarly, 6,552 tourists completed immigration procedures at the checkpoint and departed Nepal for foreign destinations, while 1,847 Nepali citizens also left the country through the same border.
