Separate airport desk for Persons of Nepali Origin

Kathmandu — A separate desk will be established in both the arrival and departure halls of Tribhuvan International Airport for persons of Nepali origin and Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) living around the world.

According to the Department of Immigration, this decision has been made to strengthen the emotional connection of foreign citizens of Nepali origin and NRNs with the Nepali language, culture, and homeland, as well as to promote tourism and investment in Nepal.

The Department has sent an official letter on Sunday to the Tribhuvan International Airport Office, directing it to arrange separate desks in both the arrival and departure sections. The Association of Nepali Origin (ANO), an organization representing people of Nepali origin worldwide, had long been urging the Government of Nepal to take such a step.

Following the decision made by the Home Administration on Sunday, the organization has welcomed the move.

In a statement issued by ANO President Dilli Adhikari, it was said:
“This decision by the Ministry of Home Affairs has made people of Nepali origin across the world feel respected. We believe that its implementation will significantly contribute to strengthening the bond between Nepali identity and Nepal.”
