Narayangadh (Chitwan): An international conference on bees is set to be held in Rampur, Chitwan, to discuss the interrelationship between bees, pollination, and food security. Organized by the Agriculture and Forestry University, the conference will run from Chaitra 23 to 27.
The event aims to promote modern beekeeping practices, scientific research, and international collaboration. It will include three days of technical sessions and two days of field visits and observation tours.
Registrar Prof. Dr. Pushkar Pal emphasized the importance of expanding education, research, and extension services to the international level. He noted that approximately 70% of global crops rely on pollination by bees, and nearly one-third of food production depends on them.
Officials highlighted challenges in beekeeping such as climate change, declining pollinator populations, disease management, and market issues. The conference is expected to address these concerns and contribute to policy development. Around 250 researchers, beekeepers, and policymakers from more than 20 countries are expected to participate.
