Kathmandu: Individuals residing in the squatter settlement in Thapathali, Kathmandu, have started moving their possessions elsewhere. This follows the government’s preparation to demolish the structures within the settlement.
Since yesterday evening, the police have been making public announcements, urging residents to vacate the encroached area. A joint team comprising the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and Metropolitan Police has requested that the settlement be cleared before tomorrow morning, stating that the area will be vacated starting at 6 a.m.
Meanwhile, protests accompanied by strong slogans against the government are taking place in Thapathali, opposing the decision to clear the settlement. The residents have been demonstrating, demanding justice from the government.
