Kathmandu: The festival of colors, Holi, is being joyfully celebrated in the hilly regions of Nepal today (Thursday). In Nepal, Holi is traditionally observed in the hills first, followed by celebrations in the Terai the next day. People celebrate by applying colored powder (abir) to each other.
The government has declared separate public holidays for Holi in the hills and the Terai. This year, a public holiday has been granted in the hilly regions on Thursday. On this occasion, the President, Vice President, Prime Minister, and other high-ranking officials have extended their best wishes, encouraging people to celebrate Holi with enthusiasm and unity.
President Ram Chandra Paudel expressed his belief that Holi strengthens social harmony and national unity. He also wished that the festival would inspire people to eliminate negative social practices and preserve Nepal’s cultural heritage.
Similarly, Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav highlighted the cultural and national importance of Holi, stating that the festival helps promote cultural richness and social unity.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Speaker Devraj Ghimire also conveyed their Holi greetings, wishing for joy and happiness among the people. Meanwhile, authorities across the country have urged the public to celebrate Holi peacefully and responsibly.
