Kathmandu: The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has predicted heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in several provinces of Nepal.
Nepal is currently under the influence of monsoon winds along with a partial influence of a low-pressure wind system located around the Jharkhand region of India in the country.
The axis of the monsoon trough is in the north towards the West and it is around the average position towards the East, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD).As a result, light to moderate rainfall has been observed in the Bagmati, Koshi, and Karnali Provinces, with the possibility of light rain in Kathmandu Valley this afternoon.
The MFD warns that some areas in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces will experience light to moderate rainfall this afternoon, while heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning may occur in one or two places in Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim Provinces.
Additionally, Koshi and Sudurpaschim Provinces may face heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning tonight.It has also urged residents to take necessary precautions to avoid potential risks, such as floods, landslides, soil erosion, and windstorms, due to the expected heavy rains.
